Dubbo Regional Council hosts and support a number of civic events and ceremonies for the community to participate in and attend; including Australia Day events, ANZAC Day services, Remembrance Day services, Citizenship Ceremonies and the Dubbo Day event. Expand the sections below to find out more.

ANZAC DAY

ANZAC Day services at the cenotaph

Services and road closures will be planned for the Dubbo Regional Council Local Government Area for Friday, 25 April 2025.

Residents are reminded to bring their own water bottle and hat to local services.

AUSTRALIA DAY

Australia Day 2024 was a day to reflect, respect and celebrate the Australian spirit and the best of this vast country; our mateship, our sense of community, our resilience, and looking to the future with optimism and hope.

The Dubbo Region's Australia Day Celebrations are assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.

DUBBO EVENT

The Australia Day event for Dubbo in 2025 will be held at 8am on Sunday 26 January at Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre. Further details for the 2025 event in Dubbo are not yet available, but will be added to this webpage.

2025 Australia Day Celebrations are proudly supported by the Dubbo Regional Aquatic Leisure Centres.

WELLINGTON EVENT

The Australia Day event for Wellington in 2025 will be held at 6.30pm on Saturday 25 January in Cameron Park. Further details for the 2025 event in Wellington are not yet available, but will be added to this webpage.

CITIZENSHIP CEREMONIES

The final step in becoming an Australian Citizen is to make a Pledge of Commitment at a citizenship ceremony.


After successfully applying for Australian citizenship with the Department of Home Affairs, candidates are invited to make their pledge at a citizenship ceremony organised by their local council; Dubbo Regional Council holds several ceremonies during the year.

If you have received your letter of approval and are awaiting to attend a ceremony council will notify you by an invitation letter of when to attend a ceremony. Please note due to large volumes of candidates you may not be invited to attend a ceremony for several months.

The Department of Home Affairs manages all citizenship placements. Therefore, we are not able to advise which ceremony date you will be placed in, please call 131 880 or head to their website; Department of Home Affairs


REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDING A CEREMONY

Your invitation letter will detail all requirements for your citizenship ceremony and you will be required to bring the following:

  • You must bring a government issued photo identification (ie driver’s licence or passport).
  • You must bring your invitation letter.

If you have compassionate or compelling grounds for an urgent ceremony, please contact the Department of Home Affairs directly.

All decisions regarding Citizenship are made by the Department of Home Affairs. If you have any questions about your application, make contact through the Department of Home Affairs website or phone the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.

Dubbo Regional Council do not produce citizenship certificates. If you have lost, damaged or your certificate needs to be replaced, please contact the Department of Home Affairs.

Please do not contact Council about your specific application. Dubbo Regional Council does not process applications and our staff are not involved in any decision making.

DUBBO DAY

Dubbo Day Award recipients November 2024 outside Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre with Mayor and Councillors 

The Dubbo Day Awards will be presented in 2025 to mark the anniversary of Dubbo’s gazettal as a Village on 23 November 1849; and to recognise volunteers who have, and will continue to be, the building blocks of the community.


NOMINATIONS

Volunteers who, without expectation of reward or praise, go about their lives helping others and organisations which are focused on improving the quality of living for individuals and the community as a whole.

Nominations for 2025 will open in Spring of that year, more information will be provided when available.

REMEMBRANCE DAY

Remembrance Day service at the cenotaph

Dubbo Regional Council invites community to attend Remembrance Day Services held across the Local Government Area.


DUBBO SERVICE

Join community from 10:30am at the War Memorial Cenotaph located in Victoria Park, Dubbo.

The following roads will be closed for approximately one hour from 10:15am to all vehicular traffic (except authorised vehicles) on Monday 11 November 2024.

  • Darling Street and Wingewarra Street intersection
  • Darling Street and Talbragar Street intersection
  • Darling Street and Church Street intersection

Wellington SERVICE

Join community from 10:20am at the War Memorial Cenotaph located in Cameron Park, Wellington.
