CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR THE NEXT ROUND OF HOMEGROUND

The Western Plains Cultural Centre (WPCC) welcomes artists to apply for HomeGround, a professional development program for emerging artists.

The HomeGround program focuses on emerging artists who are wanting to expand their skills and have the potential to extend their practice and ultimately benefit from the experience of working alongside curatorial staff within a professional gallery.

Eligible artists must live or practise within a 200 kilometre radius of Dubbo.

“HomeGround provides the opportunity for regional artists to further their career and professional development here in Dubbo,” Dubbo Regional Council Cultural Development Coordinator, Jessica Moore said.

“The HomeGround program offers benefits for artists including access to an exhibition space, professional advice and mentoring with the culmination of a solo exhibition right here at the WPCC.”

HomeGround holds a dedicated exhibition space within the WPCC, enabling emerging regional artists living and/or practising within the region to grow and develop their practice within the arts sector through the program.

“The HomeGround program is a wonderful opportunity for local artists to access and be guided in their practice. It was a great honour to be given the chance to create an exhibition with the support of a curator and refine my art and show what I have achieved,” HomeGround artist Jodi Cramond said.

“I would highly recommend other artists who have an idea for a body of work to apply for the program and help push this idea to the next step with the support offered in the program,” Ms Cramond said.

Successful artists will collaborate and work alongside a curator experiencing all facets of the exhibition process including a formal opening/artist talk, studio visits and a range of promotional activities.

HomeGround is a professional development program sponsored by Wingewarra Dental and supported by Orana Arts. Through the Dubbo Regional Council SPARC Cultural Plan, Council is committed to supporting the development of a strong visual arts sector. HomeGround supports the growth of regional artists.

HomeGround applications close 13 September 2024. For information and application forms visit www.westernplainsculturalcentre.org or contact Jessica Moore on 6801 4332.
