COUNCIL LAUNCHES NEW CEMETERY PLATFORM
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has launched a new cemetery services platform within DRC&ME allowing residents and funeral directors access to a wide range of services including online applications, interment bookings, and plot reservations.
Later this year further works will see the platform also feature a live data registry of approximately 36,000 plots across the Dubbo Region and mapping software to assist with cemetery record searches.
Director Community, Culture and Places, Craig Arms said the launch of the new platform is part of a larger project to improve cemetery operations across the region, which also includes a refreshed cemeteries webpage to provide easier access to relevant information.
“The cemetery improvement project involves reviewing our operational processes, developing a management policy, and creating a master plan to guide future expansion of the New Dubbo Cemetery and Wellington Lawn Cemetery. We will be inviting community feedback at every stage of the process.”
“We began this project by engaging in consultation with our local funeral homes, with the platform and refreshed cemeteries webpage now the next step in the process,” Mr Arms said.
Users of the platform are encouraged to provide feedback to enable Council to streamline and enhance the platform which will help guide an improved user experience.
“I’d encourage anyone who has accessed the platform to provide feedback on your user experience. We want to make sure this platform is meeting the needs of all users, both in terms of the services it provides and ease of use,” Mr Arms said.
To view the new cemeteries webpage, access the platform and provide feedback, residents can head to www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au/cemeteries .
The cemetery management policy is also currently being developed by Council with cemetery master planning to commence in late 2024.
Residents will be invited to have their input into these documents to ensure Dubbo Region cemeteries are meeting the needs and expectations of the community.
