DO YOU KNOW A GREAT VOLUNTEER? NOMINATE THEM FOR A DUBBO DAY AWARD

Do you know a great volunteer who makes a valuable contribution to the Dubbo community?

Dubbo Regional Council has opened nominations for the 2024 Dubbo Day Awards, which recognise all the amazing volunteers in our community.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black encouraged community members to nominate someone they knew.

“The 2021 Census shows that 16 per cent of residents in Dubbo Volunteer, slightly higher than the 13 per cent in NSW and 14 per cent in Australia,” Clr Black said.

“With that many people in our community volunteering their time in one way or another, we look forward to reading through all the nominations highlighting the work that these people do for our community.”

The Dubbo Day Awards are held to mark the anniversary of Dubbo’s gazettal as a village on 23 November 1849.

“It is important each year to recognise the significant contribution volunteers make in our community, from volunteers within sporting groups, or cultural organisations, or the arts community.

“These people provide their time and skills freely to benefit our local community and enrich the lives of others.”

“We really encourage people to look at the organisations and groups they belong to and submit their nominations,” Clr Black said.

Nominations are now open and will close on 6 November 2024.

Award recipients are selected from the nominees by a committee of community members which include past winners.

This year the Dubbo Day Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday 21 November at 10am at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
