GARAGE SALE TRAIL SAVE THE DATE

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is this year supporting the Garage Sale Trail and encouraging residents to cash in or grab a bargain when the event occurs over two weekends in November.

People across the country are invited to participate in the annual sustainability event which aims to reduce the volume of usable items ending up in landfill while also providing a fun and social way for the community to make and/or save money.

Run across two weekends, the 9-10 November and the 16-17 November, there is an opportunity for everyone to take part in some way.

DRC Resource Recovery Education Officer Hamish Campbell said selling or shopping at garage sales is a fun and simple action we can take to reduce our carbon footprint.

“Joining the Garage Sale Trail is a great way for residents to come together, declutter, raise money, and keep good stuff out of the landfill,” Mr Campbell said.

“Registration is free for residents and open to households, schools and even local community groups, so if you want to get together with some friends and host a sale, or a school group to fundraise, we encourage it,” Mr Campbell said.

It's a garage sale made easy and with the support of Council it’s free to register a sale and access a host of tips, tools and free promotional materials.

DRC has a number of programs to assist our community members in diverting items from landfill including the textile recycling program, Community Recycling Centres, green-waste services and resources to allow you to track your household waste.

“Supporting the Garage Sale Trail is another way Council can help the community prevent perfectly good household items from ending up in landfill,” Mr Campbell said.

Save the date and sign up to host your own Garage Sale during the event on either weekend at www.garagesaletrail.com.au/dubboregion .
