ONE CLASSICAL MINUTE WITH PIANIST WITH THE HAIR

Steinway Artist Julian Gargiulo, commonly referred to as ‘Pianist with the Hair’ because of his distinctive look, will be performing at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) on Friday 18 October.

Julian Gargiulo is an Italian American classical pianist and composer known for his interactive, humorous performances of classical music.

Julian performs all over the world in prestigious venues from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Singapore’s Symphony Stage.

Julian said that he aims to challenge people’s perceptions of classical music.

“If you like classical music, come to my show. If you don’t think you like classical music, you should come to my show. If you hate classical music, you really need to come to my show,” Mr Gargiulo said.

His concerts are always an interactive experience as he captivates his audience, not only with his technical precision, but with his Jerry Seinfeld-ish wit as well.  In fact, he has been likened to a modern-day Victor Borge.

Manager Regional Events Linda Christof is thrilled Julian is making a return visit to the DRTCC after performing there in 2018.

“He plays for the crowd but also banters with them throughout the concert. His signature trick is to place a camera above the piano keys and project the vision onto a big screen behind so that the audience can see the intricacy of the pieces he plays - he also intersperses it with clever anecdotal quips on the screen,” Ms Christof said.

He will delight the audience with Bach, Brahms, Chopin, Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninoff, alongside his own compositions. He recently released a Deutsche Grammophon recording which went directly to #1 of Amazon’s Fresh Classical Music playlist.

Throw out any preconceived notions you have about classical music when you take your seat at DRTCC on 18 October, because this pianist is unlike any other.

Julian Gargiulo will perform at 7:30pm.

Tickets are on sale now and can be booked through the DRTCC Box Office, by visiting the website www.drtcc.com.au, or by phoning 6801 4378.
