STRENGTHENING THE REGIONAL ECONOMY

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) works strategically with businesses, educational institutions, and industry partners behind-the-scenes to promote and enhance the economic development opportunities for the Dubbo Region.

As part of Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plan for 2024/2025, the focus is on continuing to support visitor economy growth, employment opportunities and maximise the realisation of economic development for the region.

“Council’s focus is on building strategic partnerships that will have short-term and long-term benefits for the local and regional economy,” Dubbo Regional Council, Mayor Mathew Dickerson said.

The Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) will see major large-scale investment and projects and Council is working proactively to ensure the region benefits well into the future.

“The growth of the region will boost every aspect of the local economy including workforce, infrastructure and information sharing and have a flow on effect for the growth of the community well into the future,” Clr Dickerson said.

Council also supports small business through campaigns such as shop local and Christmas promotions in both Wellington and Dubbo aimed at helping the local economy flourish.

“Council is often the organisation that is across all the information on plans and projects and strategically determines how everyone can support one another in a way that benefits the overall plans for our growing community.”

The Community Crime Prevention and Safety Plan is one project that Council is bringing the NSW Police Force, the business community, and community services to the table to work collectively on solutions that benefits business, residents and visitors.

“Building strategic partnerships with industry and all levels of government is so important for the future growth of the region.”

Dubbo Region is an ideal location for investment and opportunity for such a diverse range of industry and businesses. These businesses service the Local Government Area and the surrounding region as well as being the main service centre for communities further north and west of Dubbo Region.

“Time is running out to have your say, don’t miss out on your opportunity to help shape Council’s activities for the next 12 months,” said Clr Dickerson.
