Are you up for a challenge? Macquarie Regional Library’s Summer Reading Challenge will kick off on Monday 2 December 2024.
The Summer Reading Challenge is a free reading incentive program designed for children and young people aged 5 – 16 years, to help maintain literacy levels over the summer school holiday period.
Participants simply log their reading for the chance to win one of 10 prize packs.
To register for the Summer Reading Challenge you can download the Beanstack Tracker app, register online at www.macquarielibrary.beanstack.com or visit your local library branch to receive a manual paper log.
“The Summer Reading Challenge is a great opportunity to continue to develop your child’s literacy skills but also their love for reading,” Macquarie Regional Library Manager, Kathryn McAlister said.
“Children log their reading throughout the summer to earn entries into the prize draws. There are great prizes to be won!”
Macquarie Regional Library has an extensive range of books for children and young people as well as access to a large range of e-books and e-audio books via apps such as Libby, Borrow Box and IndyReads.
“Books are free to borrow with a library card and can provide children the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of books and stories.”
“The Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to keep children reading during the school holidays. Reading is a skill for life and a great way to relax or enjoy for entertainment.”
“If your child is five years and under they can still take part in the challenge in the same manner but will be entered into a separate prize draw for an age appropriate prize,” Ms McAlister said.
The Summer Reading Challenge runs from Monday 2 December 2024 – Friday 28 February 2025.
