THE GRUFFALO REPRESENTS ROARING SUCCESS FOR DRTCC

The Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) has seen four of the five performances of The Gruffalo sell out for its upcoming run.

The show, which will be performed on 24 and 25 October 2024, has proven to be a huge success for the DRTCC, with more tickets having been sold for The Gruffalo than for Bluey which toured to Dubbo Region in 2021.

The Gruffalo has been adapted from the Gold Award-winning children's book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and features a trio of performers that fill the stage with colourful characters and toe tapping, sing-along songs.

DRTCC Manager Regional Events Linda Christof said the enormous popularity of the show has been seen all around the world.

The Gruffalo is coming to the DRTCC following sellout seasons on Broadway and the West End. To have a show of this magnitude and quality being performed locally is a great win for the region, and a real treat for children and their parents and guardians,” Ms Christof said.

The success of the The Gruffalo comes off the back of other recent achievements at the DRTCC.

“We recently celebrated our one millionth patron through the doors of the DRTCC, reaching the milestone sooner than expected.”

“The DRTCC also won a 2024 PAC Australia Impact Award for The Saturday Night Social, in conjunction with the Dance Makers Collective. The award recognised the shared ingenuity, reciprocity, care, and commitment of the DRTCC and the Dance Makers Collective in the development and ongoing presentation of The Saturday Night Social,” Ms Christof said.

While the DRTCC’s Loaded With More In 2024 season is about to enter its final quarter, patrons can expect an exciting lineup next year.

“Our 2025 season is shaping up to be very big. We can’t wait to unveil all the exciting productions coming to the Dubbo Region next year.”

“Make sure you come along to our season launch on Sunday 24 November. You don’t have to be a Theatre Subscriber to attend - it is open to the public and tickets are on sale now,” Ms Christof said.

A small number of tickets are still available for The Gruffalo’s 6pm show on Thursday 24 October.

Tickets can be purchased at the DRTCC Box Office, by visiting the website drtcc.com.au, or by phoning 6801 4378.
