Dubbo Regional Council's privacy, copyright and disclaimer statements are designed to protect your rights and govern the use of information on this website.

Privacy Statement

We will take all reasonable and appropriate steps to protect the privacy of individuals as required by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1988 (NSW)(PPIP Act) and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW)(HRIP Act).

The information we collect is used to facilitate services that we provide to you. When collecting your personal information, we will tell you for what purpose we will be collecting the information and what information is necessary to access Council's products and services, including payments and transactions. We will not pass the information on to other entities without your consent unless it is required by law.

When handling your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that all information we collect, use or disclose is securely stored, and operate secure servers to minimise the risk of unauthorised use of your information.

By contacting council to seek services, make applications or for general enquiries you expressly consent to the collection and use of your personal information according to Council's Privacy Management Plan.

If you think Council has breached your privacy and confidentiality, you may lodge a complaint with Council’s Privacy Contact Officer. Council will take your complaint seriously, investigate thoroughly and provide you with a response.

Accessibility, Quality Assurance and Cookies

Dubbo Regional Council uses programs such as Google Analytics, Monsido by Acquia, UserWay and HotJar to improve accessibility, functionality and quality of information on our website. The information these platforms may temporarily store information which includes IP address, cookie information, the website they visited from, the date and duration of the visit, and information from the device including device type, operating system, screen resolution, language, location (Country) and web browser type.

These tools do not match any data collected with any personal information, which means website users browse our website anonymously.

In relation to Google Analytics, you can opt-out of the collection of this information using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Wherever possible, Dubbo Regional Council will aim to adhere to level AA of the WCAG 2.0 guidelines.

Email

Email addresses provided via this site will only be used in response to specific user queries and will not be added to any mailing lists, nor disclosed to any other party, without the users’ knowledge and consent unless required by law. Email addresses provided via this site to be promoted on group lists or directories are done so at user’s consent. Email addresses may be disclosed in standing committee or council meeting agendas or business papers if they are received by Council through petition or formal submission.

Mailchimp and Opt-Out

Dubbo Regional Council uses MailChimp, which provides online tools that can be used to create, send, and manage emails. MailChimp may collect personal information, such as distribution lists which contain email addresses, and other information relating to those email addresses. MailChimp is based in the United States of America (USA) and the information collected about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by MailChimp on servers located outside Australia.

If you receive any email from a Council distribution list, you can unsubscribe from this list by clicking on an unsubscribe button within the email or by replying ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ to the email address listed as the sender.

Social Networking Services

Dubbo Regional Council uses social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, TikTok and YoutTube to communicate with the public about matters of interest. Our channels are public, which means any interactions with our accounts are also publicly available. The social networking service will also handle your personal information for its own purposes, this policy does not extend to social networking services as these sites have their own privacy policies. Websites hosted by Dubbo Regional Council provide links to other websites. This privacy policy does not extend beyond those websites hosted by Council.
