CELEBRATE A SPECTACULAR SENIORS FESTIVAL AT MACQUARIE REGIONAL LIBRARY
Macquarie Regional Library is gearing up for a fun-filled February with various engaging activities and events planned to celebrate NSW Seniors Festival.
The manager of Macquarie Regional Library, Kathryn McAlister, invites seniors to visit the library to connect with the community, partake in the fantastic range of free activities available, and try something new.
"From information sessions and technology programs to local history talks and musical mornings, there is so much on offer for seniors at your library during February, and we welcome everyone to celebrate with us!"
Musical Morning
The Seniors Festival begins on 1 February with a Musical Morning at Dubbo Library. Featuring local choir Sing Australia, participants will be treated to a musical performance and can tantalise their taste buds with a delicious morning tea.
Tech Savvy Seniors
The return of the library's popular Tech Savvy Seniors program is headlining the Seniors Festival. This suite of workshops teaches attendees to build the skills and confidence to use computers, tablets and smartphones through face-to-face training. In addition, these interactive and fun workshops will teach participants how to conquer technology and improve digital skills.
Service NSW Information Sessions
Macquarie Regional Library has partnered with Service NSW to deliver specialist workshops for seniors. Discover how to apply for a seniors travel card to ease everyday travel costs.
Local Legends
Local history buffs will enjoy the opportunity to learn more about the history of their town and be entertained by local talents. Narromine's own bush poet Geoff Smith will present a morning of bush poetry on 6 February, reflecting on his life on the land in rural Australia, while Dubbo locals can learn about the history of vibrant Macquarie Street on 10 February. Enjoy a free morning tea at Dunedoo Library on 9 February while learning about the library's history. Coonabarabran locals can learn about free activities in their town with an information session presented by Cooinda Coonabarabran on 6 February.
Further Seniors Festival highlights include board games and brain training at Wellington Library and Saturday Cinema at Narromine Library.
