DUBBO ART FAIR IS CALLING LOCAL ARTISTS
Applications are open for local artists to take part in the 2023 Dubbo Art Fair (DAF23), which will be held for the third year running at the Western Plains Cultural Centre (WPCC).
Held from the 27-29 October the Dubbo Art Fair is the biggest this side of the Blue Mountains and will see over 40 local artists take over the gallery space in the Western Plains Cultural Centre for one weekend in October.
“The Dubbo Art Fair is a great opportunity for local established and emerging artists to showcase and sell their artworks to the community,” WPCC Curator, Kent Buchanan said.
Participants must reside in the Dubbo Regional Council Local Government Area (LGA) or an LGA that adjoins the Dubbo Regional Council LGA to be able to apply and be present at their stall for the entirety of the event.
“The stall sites are free for artists and allows the artists to sell their artworks throughout the event.”
“The Dubbo Art Fair provides a connection between the community and local artists whereby artists can talk directly with people about their art, expose their creative skills to a new audience and even open prospects for future commissions and sales.”
The Dubbo Art Fair has been growing with more artists on display each year and over 1800 people attending the event over the weekend in 2022.
“We are certain this year’s Dubbo Art Fair will be even bigger and better and look forward to helping showcase the local artists of our community.”
“Dubbo Art Fair is designed to support the creative sector and contribute to the cultural economy. In 2022, artists collectively sold over $42,000 worth of art,” Mr Buchanan said.
The Dubbo Art Fair is supported by Dubbo Regional Council and is an initiative of the Council’s SPARC Cultural Plan.
The official opening for the Dubbo Art Fair will take place on Friday 27 October at 6pm with the event open to the community from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 2023.
