DUBBO ART FAIR NOMINATED FOR PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
The Western Plains Cultural Centre’s (WPCC) Dubbo Art Fair event has been nominated for a prestigious Museums and Galleries of NSW, IMAGinE Award.
The WPCC Dubbo Art Fair has been nominated in the engagement programs category alongside the Art Gallery of NSW, Powerhouse Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art.
The IMAGinE Awards highlight the resilience, innovation and creativity of museums, galleries and Aboriginal cultural spaces whilst recognising the people who work in them. The awards are a unique opportunity for museums and galleries to advocate, promote their achievements and raise their profile in the cultural sector as well as in the broader community.
“The team is really excited to be nominated for the IMAGinE Awards. The Dubbo Art Fair has established itself as the largest regional art fair west of the Blue Mountains, so it’s fitting to be recognised for public engagement,” Dubbo Regional Council Cultural Development Coordinator Jessica Moore said.
“The Western Plains Cultural Centre has been successful in the IMAGinE Awards previously winning for professional excellence, public engagement and collection management, so we are hoping to add to this collection of awards again this year.”
Now in its third year, the Dubbo Art Fair will be held on 27 – 29 October 2023 with over 40 local artists setting up shop in the WPCC Gallery Space for an entire weekend to showcase and sell their art.
“This year’s Dubbo Art Fair is fast approaching and we are looking forward to once again showcasing our region’s artists and rich cultural sector. We encourage the community to come along and meet local artists and purchase their artworks,” Ms Moore said.
The IMAGinE Awards are developed and awarded by Museums and Galleries NSW, the peak body for the Cultural Sector in NSW. The awards will be announced at a presentation night at the Sydney Modern Art Gallery of NSW on 29 November 2023.
