DUBBO REGION GROUPS BENEFIT FROM GRANT FUNDING

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has delivered community grant funding to several not-for-profit organisations across the region at a cheque presentation ceremony held on Monday 20 November at the Western Plains Cultural Centre.

The funding, which has come from Council’s Community Services Fund and Event Assistance Program grant streams, was awarded to the groups to assist in the implementation of a variety of important community projects and events.

DRC Mayor Mathew Dickerson said the grant streams were vital in supporting local organisations deliver projects and events for Dubbo Region residents and visitors.

“We have some fantastic local groups receiving Community Services Funding in this round to help support their projects, increase community capacity and build social capital,” Clr Dickerson said.

The Event Assistance Program, which has a Community Event and Destination Event component, will assist groups in facilitating key events for locals, as well as attracting visitors from outside the region.

The Community Event component saw nine successful candidates receive funding, sharing in a combined total of $10,000 which will help the groups deliver a range of social and cultural benefits to the region. The Destination Event component saw seven successful candidates receive funding, sharing in a combined total of $30,000. These Destination Events will deliver $3.5 Million into the local economy in 2024.

“Council’s Event Assistance Program will aid groups in staging exciting events for residents of the Dubbo Region, as well as helping to facilitate those large-scale destination events that draw in people from other regions and interstate”.

“It is a pleasure to be able to recognise and support the hard work these organisations are doing in our community. It is also inspiring to hear the variety of stories and the different aspects of the community these groups are involved in,” Clr Dickerson said.

Council’s Community Services Fund 2023/24 Round 2 and the Bodangora Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund Round 9 will open for applications on Thursday 1 February 2024.

Further details for the 2024 Event Assistance Program will be provided at a later date.
