DUBBO REGIONAL COUNCIL FESTIVE SEASON CLOSURES
Dubbo Regional Council facilities and services will be closed or operating to a modified schedule over the upcoming December-January festive season.
Essential services, such as waste collection, will continue as normal.
Tourism and retail facilities will operate largely as normal (with some public holiday exceptions) to allow residents and visitors the continued enjoyment of their services over the holiday break.
During the period, residents will still be able to contact Council for assistance in emergencies by calling the on-call team on (02) 6801 4000.
Residents will be able to lodge service requests through the DRC&ME portal throughout the closure period, and these service requests will be actioned when staff return full time in January.
Specific closure dates are as follows:
Essential Services:
Domestic Waste Collection: As per normal collection days.
Waste Disposal Facilities (Whylandra & Wellington): Closed Monday 25 December 2023.
Dubbo and Wellington Customer Experience Centres: Closed from 5pm Friday 22 December 2023; reopening 9am Monday 8 January 2024 (on-call team available for emergencies)
Dubbo City Animal Shelter: Closed from Saturday 23 December 2023; reopening Wednesday 27 December 2023, then closed from Saturday 30 December 2023; reopening Tuesday 2 January 2024.
- Hours of operation 27-29 December 2023 will be 10am – 12pm.
- Hours of operation 2-5 January 2024 will be 12pm – 4pm.

Dubbo and Wellington Visitor Information Centres: Closed Monday 25 December 2023 and Tuesday 26 December 2023.
Western Plains Cultural Centre and CREO Cafe: Closed Sunday 24 December 2023; reopening Wednesday 27 December, then closed Monday 1 January 2024.
Old Dubbo Gaol: Closed Monday 25 December 2023.
Wellington Caves: Closed Monday 25 December 2023.
Dubbo Regional Botanic Garden: Closed Monday 25 December 2023 and Monday 1 January 2024 only.
Other facilities
Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre: Closed from Saturday 23 December 2023; reopening Monday 8 January 2024.
Dubbo and Wellington Libraries: Closed from Sunday 24 December 2023; reopening Tuesday 2 January 2024.
Rainbow Cottage: Closed from Friday 22 December 2023; reopening Tuesday 9 January 2024.
Family Day Care: Closed from Friday 22 December 2023; reopening Tuesday 9 January 2024.
