SHOP LOCAL AND GIVE EVERYONE A MERRY CHRISTMAS
All things local are on the wish list for Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) this holiday period as we join with the community to celebrate the holidays in the Dubbo Region.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson welcomed the start of the ‘Christmas in the Dubbo Region’ holiday campaign which emphasises all the people within our community; be they local heroes, local business owners or our local residents looking for some fun in the lead up to the holiday season.
“We are excited to launch this program which celebrates the spirit of our community and supports the growth of our local economy.
“No matter how big or small you spend, each locally purchased gift gives back to our wider community in a much larger way. By making the choice to shop within the region, people not only discover unique and high-quality products but are also contributing to the prosperity and vitality of our local cities and towns.”
The Wellington and Dubbo Christmas Trees will sparkle in the sun and spread the festive cheer in both CBDs this year. Revamped Christmas ornaments led to the creation of individual identities for the Christmas Trees, with Wellington boasting a blue and silver colour scheme while Dubbo shines in a golden champagne colour.
“Council staff have been working hard in the background to upcycle the sun-faded decorations into beautiful ornaments that reflect the festive feeling and sparkle of our community,” Clr Dickerson said.
The ‘Christmas in the Dubbo Region’ campaign has lots of activities and prizes to be won for the whole family. Jingle Bucks is back with the community encouraged to spend locally to go into the draw to win a share in $5,000 in MyDubbo Region gift cards. There is also a Christmas Colouring-In competition for children 0-12 years which features the work by local artist Gillian Pedrana.
The ever-popular Elf Hunt will once again be a highlight for children and an activity for the whole family. Take the kids to explore our region and find Elves which have been hidden in shops across the Local Government Area. Once 10 of the Elves are located, children are invited to take their answers to the Dubbo or Wellington Visitors Information Centres to receive a prize.
“This year we want to encourage community members to explore the entire region to see what is on offer for Christmas. The Christmas map showcases the many shopping precincts we have in the region. The map can be downloaded digitally or found in the Photo News on 23 November,” Clr Dickerson said.

Colouring competition entries must be dropped off to the Dubbo or Wellington Visitor Information Centres by 17 December with the winners to be announced on 21 December
