POPULAR CRIME FICTION AUTHOR COMING TO DUBBO REGION
The Macquarie Regional Library will host Chris Hammer, leading Australian crime fiction novelist, for a series of author talk events in May at the Dubbo and Wellington library branches.
Chris Hammer is the author of the international bestselling Martin Scarsden series: Scrublands, Silver and Trust. The first novel in the series, Scrublands, won the UK Sunday Times Crime Book of the Year award in 2019 and has recently been adapted for the screen. The series is currently streaming on Stan in Australia.
Before turning to fiction Chris worked as a journalist for more than 30 years, including as the senior writer for The Age and political editor for The Sydney Morning Herald.
“Chris’s books all have atmospheric Australian settings, interesting characters and really intricate plots which readers love,” Macquarie Regional Library Manager, Kathryn McAlister said.
Chris’s latest novel, The Seven, is a compelling thriller filled with intrigue, emotional depth and an evocative sense of place – where nothing is ever quite what it seems.
“Chris Hammer will be visiting both the Dubbo and Wellington Library branches on the 15 and 16 May; our team are really excited to bring such a popular author to the region.”
Locals can meet and listen to Chris Hammer at:
- Dubbo Library on Wednesday 15 May 2024 from 10:30am to 11:30am.

- Wellington Library on Thursday 16 May 2024 from 10:30am to 11:30am.
“We are anticipating the Chris Hammer events to be very popular.”
“His books appeal to a wide-ranging audience and last year his novel The Tilt was one of the top five most borrowed fiction books in our library network,” Ms McAlister said.
