THE HEAT IS ON AS ALL FIRED UP COMES TO DUBBO REGION
The award-winning, homegrown love letter to 80’s music, All Fired Up: An 80s Mixed Tape, will come to the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) this April for one night of perm-raising music featuring 20 hit songs from the decade.
A 70-minute jammed packed theatre show, All Fired Up: An 80s Mixed Tape features Rachel Terry and her real-life daughter, Scarlet Terry, who time travel to tell the audience a story about the power of the arts in solving life's problems.
The show is the brainchild of two regional creatives from Far North Queensland, Roz Pappalardo and Rachel Terry, who drew inspiration from a series of rocking female 80's musicians and developed the concept over a few 'writing trips' to Port Douglas.
The result? An inspiring part rock concert, part 80's aerobics dance class and part comedic theatre show, telling the story of one woman's epic mid-life crisis solved by a touch of time-travel and a close encounter with the favourite songs of her youth.
Manager Regional Events Linda Christof said the show mixes everyone’s favourite parts of the 1980s: fashion and music.
“DRTCC will be going back to the 80s for a night, and we’re excited for our patrons to come along on the journey. There’s a stellar band, so it is more of a concert than a musical which will have people dancing in their seats. I imagine we’ll see patrons rocking bright fluorescent clothes, big hair, legwarmers, sweatbands and blue eyeshadow eager to see a live show with lots of nostalgia,” Ms Christof said.
All Fired Up: An 80s Mixed Tape also presents an exciting opportunity with people from the community invited to be part of the choreography live on stage at one point, driving the narrative to completion.
You might be mingling in the foyer with friends and then see them on stage – you just never know!
All Fired Up: An 80s Mixed Tape will show for one night only on Friday 19 April 2024 at 7.30pm.
