BESTSELLING CHILDREN’S BOOK BROUGHT TO LIFE ON STAGE AT DRTCC
Based on the bestselling book by David Walliams, the stage performance of The Midnight Gang, hits the stage at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) on Tuesday 23 March at 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 6pm, and again the next day at 10:30am.
The story follows the journey of twelve-year-old Tom, who unexpectedly finds himself lonely and lost in St Crook's Hospital and at the mercy of Evil Matron. Tom feels like he’ll never leave, but his fellow young patients have other ideas. Join The Midnight Gang as Tom and his new friends go on a series of amazing adventures as the team behind The 13-, 26-, 52-, 78- and 91-Storey Treehouses, Mr Stink and Billionaire Boy bring David Walliams’ bestselling book to life on stage in a celebration of friendship, love and the power of the imagination for children six-and-up and their families.
“We encourage families to come along to the 6pm performance on Tuesday 23 March. Take advantage of the last days of daylight saving with plenty of time to watch the show, have an early dinner and get the kids off to bed” said Manager DRTCC, Linda Christof.
Those attending the 12.30 pm performance are fortunate to catch the Q&A that follows. The 60-minute comical drama and good-natured fun with a mature edge will appeal to young and the young-at-heart.
“There’s something about the title ‘midnight’ and ‘gang’ that will conjure up exciting childhood memories for many people of sleepovers, eating too many lollies and being told to be quiet and go to sleep!”
Mayor of the Dubbo Region, Councillor Ben Shields said that the DRTCC has already demonstrated it can host crowds from all over New South Wales, following the success of its latest children’s show at the theatre, Bluey’s Big Play.
“Being a regional theatre with a broad reach, it’s great to see school groups travelling from Parkes, Cobar, Baradine, Mudgee and Tooraweenah to see a show – that’s certainly an early start and a long bus trip for some of them,” said Mayor of Dubbo, Councillor Ben Shields.
The show is in town for two days. Tickets to The Midnight Gang can be purchased in person at the Box Office, via phone (02) 6801 4378, or by visiting the DRTCC website: drtcc.com.au.
