GET READY TO LAUGH WITH DANIEL TOWNES AND JACQUES BARRETT
Arrange a baby-sitter and grab your family and friends for a night of adult comedy at Wellington Civic Centre on Friday 11 June 2021 at 7 pm. It’s Wellington’s turn to be in the spotlight with a great line-up of quality entertainment with a double-headliner.
Daniel Townes is a regular at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Sydney Comedy Festival each year. Daniel is a popular Australian stand-up comedian, known for his sharp one-liners, savage social commentary and dark-but-hilarious tales of his own failings. He has a laconic and dry-wit with a warm onstage persona. Society’s shortcomings and foibles — from the big questions of life through to the petty grievances of day-to-day existence — all are neatly excised by his sharp, razor-edged wit and rapid-fire delivery, guaranteeing a ferocious hit rate of punchlines-per-minute.
After the interval, Jacques Barrett will grace the stage. After 12 years on the world’s comedy and festival circuit Jacques has cemented his position as a bona-fide international headliner. A quiet achiever, ever the underdog, known for his ability to throw relentless comedy blows. Weaving characters and impressions into barbed social commentary, showing the lighter side of much darker subject matter and leaving audiences thinking and laughing long after the curtains have closed
Manager, Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre, Linda Christof said it’s exciting that the Wellington Civic Centre will host this hilarious evening.
“Our team is committed to bringing quality live entertainment to Wellington. The Civic Centre is an iconic building which the local community are very proud of. Over the past few years it has undergone some upgrades and is at a production standard that we can now accommodate certain touring companies,” said Ms Christof.
“We hosted the children’s show Brass Monkeys at Wellington Civic Centre in April, Comedy in June and we are thrilled to announce The Wiggles – The Great Wiggley Roadtrip Tour will be gracing the Wellington Civic Centre stage in July. To create a relaxed atmosphere for the comedy night, seating will be round tables of eight, with patrons encouraged to bring a picnic platter. The bar will be open throughout the evening to purchase beer, wine and soft drinks. Doors and the bar will open at 6pm and show time is 7pm. So grab your friends and family and book your tickets or a table before they sell out,” she said.
Tickets for Comedy @ Wellington Civic Centre can be purchased in person at the Box Office, 155 Darling Street or via phone (02) 6801 4378 during business hours, or by visiting the website drtcc.com.au.
