STEPPING INTO THE FUTURE: A STRATEGY FOR A SMARTER DUBBO
In 2021, Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is looking to make the Dubbo region an even better place to live, work, visit and invest by developing a dedicated Smart City Strategy.
“A smart city uses technology to make communities more liveable, more sustainable, more productive – and that’s what our Smart City Strategy will aim to do. We want to deliver more efficient and effective services that use technology and data to better understand and serve the Dubbo community. Technology will also help us tackle future challenges and grab hold of new opportunities in the digital age,” said DRC Director Development and Environment, Stephen Wallace.
“In today’s competitive environment, with new challenges like COVID-19 and the changing climate, we need to be creative and innovative. More often, new technologies are driving better outcomes for communities, businesses and the agricultural and education sectors. DRC can leverage technology to support the community, and drive new opportunities” said Mr Wallace.
The Smart City Strategy will also be a key document in helping guide the direction of DRC’s internal use of technology, to help deliver important services to the community. There has already been the implementation of award-winning technology to improve customer relations, with plans to introduce more.
“Our Smart City Strategy will build on your priorities and challenges and we value the input and ideas of the Dubbo community,” said Mr Wallace.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our region. We are seeking assistance from the community to identify areas of opportunity that can be improved by integrating smart technologies and improved data management.
To be involved, share your ideas at the upcoming Community Workshops and answer the Community Survey. These sessions will be held over two days, with one in-person workshop and one digital workshop, in addition to an online survey. The workshops will include a briefing about what the Smart Cities plan is, ensuring that Dubbo’s Smart City Strategy is tailored to the needs and capability of the community. The workshops available will be held on the following days
- 9 June (6:00-7:00pm) – In person Workshop at Dubbo Regional Council’s Dubbo Administration Building.
- 10 June (2:30-3:30pm) – Digital Workshop
Your participation brings Dubbo closer to smart city success, and the best possible community we can create.
