ASBESTOS REMOVAL FROM PIONEER PARK AMENITIES

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) will begin works to remove debris that contain asbestos from the former Pioneer Park amenities block in Wellington on Monday, 24 June.

The amenities block and canteen roof were destroyed by fire earlier this year.

The local soccer club also suffered as a result of the fire, losing items that were stored at the facility.

Contractors will begin the removal of the the debris on Monday with the community advised that asbestos was identified as part of the materials in these structures.

As a result, licensed asbestos removal contractors have been engaged, barriers and asbestos removal practices will be in place until the area is deemed safe.

While rigorous asbestos removal practices will be in observed, it is advised for the community to stay away from the area to minimise any risk of exposure to airborne asbestos particles.

Council apologises for any inconvenience while the works are undertaken.
