BURRENDONG BRIDGE UPGRADES SET TO BEGIN
Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) advises residents that works will commence on the replacement Burrendong Bridge No.1 on Monday 29 July 2024.
The project includes the demolition of the existing wooden bridge and the subsequent construction of a new concrete bridge. The new bridge will be built on the same alignment as the current bridge.
The new bridge will have an increased width and upgraded guard rails, as well as improved stormwater drains to help decrease the risk of flooding.
The works will also include the addition of extended approach roads to improve traffic flow and accessibility.
A temporary access road will be constructed to the north of the bridgeworks to maintain traffic flow during the construction period. Traffic will be managed with traffic lights, allowing one lane of traffic at a time.
The project is estimated to be completed by late March 2025.
Residents are encouraged to drive safely and remain aware of the works to the side of the road.
Burrendong Bridge No.1 joins Comobella Crossing and Molong Street Bridge in receiving reconstruction works in 2024/2025.
The Burrendong Bridge No.1 Replacement Project is co-funded by the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Bridges program and Dubbo Regional Council.
