HELP SHAPE PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES FOR OUR YOUTH

Would you like to help shape future programs, activities and opportunities that lead to positive outcomes for the Youth in our region?

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is developing a Youth Action Plan 2025-2029, looking at how Council can best service the youth of our community and is calling on young people and their parents to provide input.

“The insights we receive from the consultation period will help guide the development of the Youth Action Plan for the next four years,” Dubbo Regional Council Youth Development Officer Charmaine Mara said.

“There is a lot of actions Council can undertake in this area, and we want to create a program of works that provides meaningful contribution to the lives of 12 to 25 year-olds who live and work in Dubbo, Wellington and our surrounding villages.”

The strategy will set out Council’s key commitments to young people who live, work, visit and study in the Local Government Area.

“As we begin consultation on this project, we want to hear directly from those this plan will affect moving forward,” Ms Mara said.

“This plan will focus on creating actions where young people can be community-minded, well connected and work ready.”

Once consultation has been undertaken, Council staff will collate feedback and develop the Youth Action Plan 2025-2029 in conjunction with key stakeholders, which include the Youth Advisory Committee.

Upon completion the document will be taken to a future Council meeting and placed back out on public exhibition for further comment before adoption.

The Youth Action Plan is being created alongside the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan.

Members of the Youth Council will also be available to speak about the consultation period at the Music on the Macquarie Youth Festivals in Dubbo and Wellington.

The Dubbo Festival will be held on 2 October from 1pm at Apex Oval, while the Wellington Festival will be held on 3 October from 1pm at Kennard Park.

Council staff will also be at Snare’s Newsagency on Talbragar Street on 23 October from 12pm to 2pm to receive feedback from the community on the Action Plan.
