LET US KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE AT ELIZABETH PARK, DUBBO
What would you like to see in a Multicultural Garden at Elizabeth Park in Dubbo?
Dubbo Regional Council is calling for the community to provide their feedback on two concept designs, created to show what could be built at Elizabeth Park in Dubbo.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said a motion was put forward in 2022 asking the CEO to provide a report that identified the feasibility of incorporating a multicultural element into Dubbo’s Elizabeth Park.
“Within that area we already have the soon to be built Wiradjuri Cultural Tourism Centre, Wiradjuri Park, the Adventure Playground, Oasis Valley and the Shoyoen Japanese Garden.
“A Multicultural Garden would tie the whole area together to really celebrate the diversity of our community,” Clr Black said.
Elements included in the concept designs for the proposed park include open space, public art, areas for large groups and celebrations, access to existing area, water features and connection pathways.
Dubbo Regional Council Manager Recreation and Open Spaces Ian McAlister said Council had engaged Moir Landscape Architecture to work with key stakeholders and Council to develop the concept designs.
“We are looking to develop an inclusive and vibrant space that symbolises unity, diversity, cultural traditions and design elements that foster understanding and connections,” Mr McAlister said.
“During this part of the process, residents, cultural groups and stakeholders are being invited to provide feedback on the two concepts through a range of consultation activities.”
Once consultation is completed the feedback received will assist with the development of a final concept design that can be used to guide the development of a business case and provide Council with indicative costs towards construction, resources and ongoing costs to support applications for grant funding.
