HIGH ENERGY AS TROJAN WAR SPECTACULAR COMES TO DRTCC

Award-winning New Zealand theatre company, A Slightly Isolated Dog, is thrilled to be heading to Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) on Thursday 10 April with its spectacular production of Trojan War.

Trojan War combines classical mythology with modern absurdity in a style reminiscent of Monty Python meets The Mighty Boosh.

Trojan War is an explosive and hilarious work that engages a cast of five flirtatious faux French performers who will greet you at the door and welcome you. They will bring you in, show you to your seat, charm you, flirt with you – perhaps even fall in love with you. Together, you will tell a story of the legendary fall of Troy - reimagined in a wild, witty, and wonderfully chaotic fashion production exploring the modern-day chaos of our world.

“It’s nearly impossible to describe; the actors play multiple roles, swapping mid-scene and there’s tons of audience interaction. At one point, they pull audience members in as Greek gods and lovers, and it’s hilarious,” DRTCC Performing Arts and Venues Coordinator Tiffany Rowland said.

This unique show offers an experience where audiences can choose to either sit back and enjoy or actively participate in the theatrical fun with two performances, one at 12pm tailored for schools, teens and their families, while a 6pm show is tailored for older children and adults.

“The 12pm performance is designed to be a teen-family-friendly adventure, offering an entertaining and educational experience for schools, children and adults alike; it’s great for budding performers or those who are studying Drama in school.”

“This show is a real chance for young audiences to dive into the world of ancient myths and legends while enjoying the vibrant, comedic elements that A Slightly Isolated Dog is renowned for,” Ms Rowland said.

“Probably best described as over-the-top improv – there is a rap battle at one moment and a slapstick fight scene the next. With trashcan lids for helmets, brooms as weapons and well-timed sound ques in slapstick fights, audience members feel excited to engage with the performers and ‘join the show’.”

Whether you're looking to sit and watch or eager to join in on the fun, Trojan War promises an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

There is also an exclusive post show event for Theatre Subscribers, allowing them to rub shoulders with the cast while enjoying light refreshments.

Those wishing to attend who are not currently season subscribers, can still grab their subscription and include Trojan War in the mix to receive the VIP entry to the post show event.
