SIR RODEN CUTLER PARK VIEWING PLATFORM REMOVAL
Dubbo Regional Council is advising residents that removal of the Sir Roden Cutler Park viewing platform will start on mid-March 2025.
The removal works are expected to be completed by 31 March 2025, weather permitting.
Removal of the platform is necessary due to damage from repeated flooding of the Macquarie River during 2020-2022. Following an assessment, it was determined the platform is structurally unsound due to bank erosion and slumping.
Removal costs are covered under Council’s insurance and do not impact the 2024/25 budget. The removal of the viewing platform will be carried out by a local company.
The commemorative plaque at the platform, which identifies key community members and their contribution towards its construction, will be retained by Council and stored securely until a decision is made on its relocation.
As part of the works, the existing pathway leading down to the viewing platform will be removed and a new path installed to provide access to the seat. Fencing will be installed in the location of the viewing platform to limit access to the area.
